You're a better person than I am. I still rant about people who say things I disagree with, especially when it's about someone I respect. Her mistake was just as bad as yours, and you had a right to defend your friend against someone who had publically bad mouthed him. It certainly WAS embarrassing that you were overheard by her husband, but she had it coming. I'd lower my voice and not mention names, though. In public. :)
