“You Will Know My People by Their Love”

So many “Christians” never seemed to have heard that

“Love thy neighbor as thyself.”

“Do unto others as you would have done unto you.”

“You will know my people by their love.”

I’ve been watching “Viking Valhalla” on Netflix, watching “Christians” destroy villages and kill every man, woman, and child in them because those people are “pagans.”

We had the Crusades, the “Holy Wars.” All three major religions, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, see the same land as “holy land” because all three religions are based on the Old Testament, all about the same God. The Jews don’t think the Messiah has come yet. Christians think Jesus was the Messiah. Muslims think Mohammad was the Messiah. I don’t think God sent any messenger here to tell us to fight and kill each other.

The Spanish Inquisition was a charming chapter in our history. I don’t remember Jesus telling us to torture people who didn’t believe in him until they sign up, and then kill them anyway, because you’ve broken them so badly, they can’t live.

Hitler was, of course, about as far away from Jesus as a man could get. Exterminate your neighbor isn’t quite the same as “love.”
