You may have something there. I, too, was a teacher with little spare time for hobbies, and I lost most of my friendships when I moved 12 hours away. I often thought people could start new careers after they retired, but teaching was all I ever wanted to do--not tutor, because I work best in front of a crowd, not one-on-one.
