When I moved from New York state to North Carolina, I applied for at least seven openings at area colleges. I have a masters degree in English Education and 34 years' experience. I didn't get a single interview. I think it was a combination of my age (66) and the need to pay me more because of my qualifications. It forced me into early retirement, which I don't particularly enjoy. I miss my classroom, but now, at 71, I wouldn't go back. And I've let my hair go grey. Ha!
