"We do not negotiate" has been the Republican mantra ever since Newt Gingrich and the Tea Baggers. It's just gotten worse since, and Trump is the result. I could study MAGA repubs for the rest of my life and not understand them, because you need logic to reason with people, and they have no logic, no truth, nothing to negotiate with.
