The GOP Is Self-destructing
The party needs to start over
I’ll be honest. I’m a Democrat. I am a Democratic Socialist. My heroes are Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Katie Porter, and Pete Buttigieg. I think FDR was one of the best presidents we ever had. I believe that the government’s job is to protect the people from the bullies and the scammers and the powerful who prey on the weak. It’s its job to make sure our rights are protected. It’s the government’s job to take care of the people who cannot take care of themselves.
I do not see the GOP as having we the people’s needs as their top priority. Not even in the top 100 things in their list of priorities. I think the party started going off the track in the Newt Gingrich years and has gotten progressively worse. They choose to play reverse Robin Hood — they take from the poor and give to the rich. They aren’t protecting the people; they are sacrificing us to the rich, powerful corporations and taking rights away from us as they join with the Fundamentalist “Christians” to force their point of view down our throats.
The last president was the icing on the cake of the GOP’s baking. We have always had hatred and bigotry in this country, but the orange man gave the hate groups permission to take off their hoods and crawl out from under their rocks and openly express their hatred for democracy.
