The Dog Pooped. Outside. In Our Own Yard
And other fascinating events in our lives
Small things make us happy.
Our three small dogs have a huge fenced-in back yard to run in; it was the first thing I fell in love with when I looked at this house.
But they want to go out to the front yard at least once a day to read the pee mail other dogs have left as their owners walk them by. I understand. I also understand that they don’t understand that they are supposed to stay in our yard. So they run around the cul-de-sac we live on, visiting other interesting smells in other yards.
I’m sure the neighbors think we send them out to poop in their yards rather than in ours, but we keep an eye on them and gladly go with our pooper scooper to clean up any messes our dogs may make, if we can find them. Small dogs make small poop, and it’s often impossible to find in big yards like ours in this neighborhood. So it’s a real thrill to see them do their business in our yard. Small things make us happy.
Side note: we live in the Sand Hills of North Carolina, meaning our soil is sand. Sand is remarkable when it comes to poop. Within a day, dog poop dries up, turns into white dust, and disappears.
