Single Women Should Get Married
Then they’ll vote for Republicans
Single women are now seen as a threat to Republicans, and the advice from a commentator on Fox was for men to “put a ring on it” to get women to vote right.
I had to be 21 to vote, and I was married by then. I did, indeed, vote Republican in my first presidential election. I doubt I would have voted differently had I not been married. I was raised surrounded by Republicans except my father, who was an Independent, so I registered Independent, too, saying, “Neither party is going to get to claim me. I’ll vote for whoever I want.”
- Just a note here — you can vote for whoever you want no matter which party you are registered with. You just can’t vote in any primary if you’re registered Independent.
I’ll be honest here and admit the first president I voted for resigned before he could be impeached, so I was sort of put off voting for a few years, since I didn’t seem to choose well.
I voted for another Republican in 1980. I was married to a different husband, and he did recommend voting for that Republican, because he had been the president of a union and would therefore be a good union man. 90 days after he was sworn in, he busted the Air Traffic Controllers union.
