Quick teacher note first--periods go inside quotes. Now to my important message--THANK YOU. I had a discussion with a student who wanted to be referred to as "they," and I had to tell "it" that "they" is plural and can't be used to avoid gender. The only gender neutral pronoun we have is "it," and that works for me. I love how you came to your conclusion. And as long as penis-owners use their appendage responsibly, I can listen to your problems. Read "Down, Wanton, Down," a poem that has been published in English anthologies. There is no "Dry, Wanton, Dry" for the female equivalent. I'll have to fix that.
