Our GPS’s Hate Us

Maybe North Carolina hasn’t paid its satellite bill…

Hubby and I have seen a lot of roads that look just like this the last two Saturdays.

Last Saturday, we went to the Scottish Games. It took us two and one half hours to get there. It took thirty-five minutes to get home.

Today, I went to meet my daughter at the IHOP in Spring Lake. I was over twenty minutes late. It took me an hour and twenty minutes to get there. It took thirty-three minutes to get home.

Why the big difference in travel time? Because our damned GPS’s take us for tours on the way there. They let us go straight home.

I don’t understand why our GPS’s hate us. We feed them good energy to recharge them. We keep them warm and safe. We don’t abuse them or say nasty things to them (until after they’ve taken us an hour out of our way.) We say “thank you” when they get us safely to our destination.

Maybe they think we don’t get out often enough and need long rides to show us the sights. Except we don’t ever see anything really exciting on these long detours. There are so many pine trees down here, but really, once you’ve seen 1,000 of them, the novelty begins to wear off.
