Our family has had its share of estrangements. My brother doesn't have anything to do with me anymore. My sister's older son pretty much resigned from the whole family. My daughter lost a son who went over to the dark side. We can't force people to stay in a family if they don't want to. And, by the way, there was no abuse or logical reason for any of the estrangements, except perhaps in their minds.
