Leave (no pun intended) them there until spring, then mulch them when you mow the first time.

…the palette of seasonal colors is nice to look at but only if it occurs outside my property lines. To me, the changing of the colors means raking up ten bags of fallen leaves from our backyard birch and our front yard maple. That’s more a curse than a blessing.

Leave (no pun intended) them there until spring, then mulch them when you mow the first time. It's better for the lawn, and it's a hell of a lot easier than raking.
