I, too, am 71, and was forced to retire 4 years ago when I moved 12 hours from my home and found no one here wanted a 66-year-old woman with a Masters degree in English Education and 34 years of experience. Since my children already lived down here and have their own lives, work would have given me a chance to meet people and become part of the community. Instead, I've spent most of these years bored, with a social life that is made pretty much up of doctors' appointments. Thank God for my husband.
