I have often wondered why there are so few stories and so many articles about how to do it. Can they not write about anything else? I share funny stories and political rants; I've been on here for months, and no one has ever said, "Good work! You're a writer!" I just keep writing because I enjoy it. I think you're right, and the "top" writers can only write about writing. They can't do it themselves.
