My life is so much more active in my dreams that I have trouble dragging myself out of bed in the morning.

Usually I am in school — one of the many I attended or taught in. Often I’m going from office to office, person to person, trying to get my schedule straightened out and finding out how many classes I’m teaching. It’s sort of like dreaming about not remembering your high school locker combination.

Sometimes I’m in the classroom teaching again. Often I have fractious students giving me a hard time, or students coming in late. It always seems to be very challenging.

All but 13 of my 72 years were spent in the classroom, either studying or teaching. That’s why most of my dreams are back there. At the end of next month, it will be 5 years since I’ve gone to school. I’m still not used to it. My subconscious still wants…
