I had the same problem with my second mother-in-law. No one would have been good enough for her only chick, and I was divorced and had a daughter. My then-husband and she fought whenever they were together, but it was because they were so much alike, and that's what ultimately broke up the marriage. His love/hate relationship with her colored his relationship with any other woman.
