Even though I retired on paper when I was 64, I had no intention of really retiring. I was a part time English professor at two community colleges, so I just cut my load from 5 classes a semester to 4 and gave myself three-day weekends. When I moved from NY to NC, I figured I'd find some more adjunct work--after all, there are 7 colleges within an hour radius of here, and I have 34 years teaching experience and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I applied to every college that had an opening and never got an interview. I've been completely retired now for 4 years, and, like you, I miss the contact with people. I enjoy writing on here, practicing what I preached all those years, but it's lonely. I loved teaching. I still have a lot to offer, too, but it's not going to happen. Sad.
