I just want to send a big thank you to all of you who have made me feel like my writing is good.

I haven’t received any awards or public recognition of any kind. I haven’t been curated or declared a top writer in anything. I didn’t even know those things existed until I read others talking about them.

But your comments on my style, my correctness, my lack of redundancy, and (most of all) my humor have meant the world to me.

The highest honors I ever received in my career (besides being invited to present a paper at the Oxford Round Table at Oxford University in England) were the comments of students the following semester telling me that something I had taught them had helped them. I can’t imagine any greater compliment for a teacher.

And the highest compliment for a writer is to hear from her readers that they enjoyed and/or identified and/or learned something from her attempts.

So a big thank you to all of you for keeping this old boat afloat. I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my keyboard (and heart.)

That’s me in my senior year in college, back in the Stone Age.
